What 10 minutes of typing looks like

At 30 WPM you type
300 words
At 40 WPM (office average)
400 words
At 60 WPM
600 words
Keystrokes at 40 WPM
2,000
One wrong word costs
0.10 net WPM

An endurance test. Ten minutes is past the point where anyone can hold a sprint, so what you get is the speed you could actually work at for an hour. One uncorrected wrong word takes 0.10 WPM off the net result of a 10 minute test, so accuracy barely moves the number and speed is all that is left.

How the score is worked out

A “word” is five keystrokes, spaces included — the convention typing exams use, so that long and short words count fairly.
